The 15 Decade Dominican Rosary
Saint Dominic Guzman (1170 - 1221) is credited with receiving the 15 decade "Angelic Psalter" from the Blessed Virgin Mary in 1208. She appeared to answer his prayers during the Albigensian heresy in a revelation:
"Wonder not that you have obtained so little fruit by your labors, you have spent them on barren soil, not yet watered with the dew of Divine Grace.
When God willed to renew the face of the earth, He began by sending down on it the fertilizing rain of the Angelic Salutation.
Therefore, preach My Psalter, composed of 150 Angelic Salutations and 15 Our Fathers, and you will obtain an abundant harvest"
This origin of this Rosary, also known as "Mary's Psalter" was affirmed by Pope Leo XIII, and supported by 13 more Popes. The Blessed Virgin Mary made known a devotion which would be a powerful weapon against future difficulties. Saint Dominic established the "Order of Preachers" in 1216. He was proclaimed master general of the Order in 1220 by Pope Honorius III, and became known as the Dominican Order or the Order of Saint Dominic.

At Fatima, Portugal, when the Blessed Virgin Mary said “Pray My Rosary”, she was speaking of Her Psalter. From the time of Saint Dominic, Mary’s Psalter was 150 Hail Marys. In 1569, St. Pope Pius V, a Dominican, issued an apostolic letter establishing the fifteen-decades as the official church-authorized Rosary.
